Getting Here
One note from us before you start searching:
We typically connect in Amsterdam or Paris as our European gateway, and have found those connections to be the most reliable and well-priced from Los Angeles.
Munich and Zurich are also excellent hubs with strong onward connections to Florence. It’s worth checking if your origin city connects to either.
From any of these hubs, the leg to Florence is short and simple. Use whichever gateway gets you the best combination of price, timing, and one fewest connection.
FLR
Florence-Peretola Airport
BEST OPTION
MOST CONVENIENT
Florence’s own airport. When you can get a routing through FLR, take it - you land and you are in the city 20 minutes later with no train, no connection, no hassle. International connections have expanded significantly in recent years.
PSA
Pisa International
CLOSEST ALTERNATIVE
LOW COST CARRIERS
About 80km west of Florence and served by more low-cost carriers than FLR. A competitive option when the price works for your routing. The train from Pisa Centrale to Florence Santa Maria Novella is direct, runs frequently, and takes about an hour.
FCO
Rome Fiumicino
BEST FOR
TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHTS
The largest international hub in Italy and the best entry point for guests flying from the US or on long-haul itineraries. The Frecciarossa high-speed train from FCO to Florence Santa Maria Novella runs frequently. The journey takes approximately 1.5 hours and is genuinely pleasant.
FAQs
Is the entire weekend mandatory?
Only the wedding and reception on Tuesday evening - it’s the main event after all! The welcome aperitivo on Sunday, activity day on Monday, and departure day brunch on Wednesday are all invitations, not obligations. That said, the weekend is designed to be experienced as a whole, and we hope you can join us for as much of it as possible!
Are children welcome?
Although we love all of your children, the events of the wedding weekend are adults only. I mean… it’s Valentine’s weekend in Europe. But we understand every family situation is different! Reach out to either groom for babysitter recommendations by our planner if needed during our events.
I have a dietary restriction, who do I tell?
We understand how personal food preferences can be. For serious allergies - anaphylactic or otherwise - please make sure to list it within your RSVP. You can also email us directly at CiaoDivas@gmail.com so we can follow up individually.
Can I bring a plus one?
Every guest is welcome to bring a plus one. Please include your guest’s name and any dietary need when you RSVP so we can plan accordingly.
Do I need to rent a tuxedo in Italy?
NOOOO. Bring your own from home - it will fit better and you will not be scrambling in Florence. If you are hiring or buying a tuxedo specifically for the occasion, do it at home before you travel. Florence has exceptional tailors, but the lead time for a proper fitting is longer than most guests will have once they arrive.
Is Florence safe?
Yes! Florence is one of the safest cities in Europe for travelers. The usual precautions apply - be aware of your surroundings in crowded areas, keep valuables close in the markets, and watch for pickpockets in tourist-heavy spots.
Nothing about Florence requires unusual caution.
What is the best way to get euros?
Ideally order Euros from your bank roughly one week out from you trip. You can also use a debit card or ATM upon arrival - you will get a better exchange rate than any currency exchange counter or airport kiosk. The ATM’s on Piazza della Republica, two minutes from the palazzo, are reliable. Most hotels, restaurants and shops accept cards, but markets, smaller workshops, and older trattorias still prefer cash and Euro coins. Keep some on hand.
